I really enjoy this book & find it a very useful reference. Easy to read tone, with a lot of humor, while still telling you everything you need to know about pet rats. Highly worth the price. It covers all the basics of pet rat care as well as tips on training.
While it is not a rat care book - I would get Debbie Ducommun's rat book for that - it also has information on looking after and caring for your rat though not as detailed. I found this book to be helpful for how to train your rats. It has different tricks and games, and is full of interesting advice. The author's voice is humourous while informative. It's a must-have for those who are interested in training your rats and playing games with them.
Now I'm at the fun part and am looking forward to implement the easy and straightforward ideas on training. haven't finished it yet but expect to soon. I love it. In addition - it's a light read, sprinkled w/ humor. The half+ that I've already covered includes all the fine points of how to prepare for your new pet(s) and how to select them - GOOD advice. makes it even more enjoyable.
First page out, reminded us to get an aquarium not a wire cage to keep the babies from escaping.
I was dissapointed it didn't include anthing on litter-box training. More than most books, however I would have liked more. It does have some on training. I bought this hoping to learn more about the training of rats. I have heard some about litter-box training and believe it could be a usefull adition to this book. For those beginners it also includes a very complete chapters on selection, care, housing and medical. All in all a good care and maintance guide, with some ideas for training.
